Where it all started

Super Bowl Televising and the First Ads: The first AFL–NFL championship (later renamed Super Bowl I) was played on January 15, 1967 and televised on both CBS and NBC (www.smithsonianmag.com). Commercials were part of that inaugural broadcast. Early advertisers included Ford, Chrysler, RCA, RJ Reynolds Tobacco, McDonald’s, Budweiser and others (www.smithsonianmag.com). (Since then, every Super Bowl telecast has featured multiple ad breaks, evolving into must-watch marketing events.)
