Atlanta Ballroom and Latin Dance Lessons

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a partner? [back to top]
No! Josh teaches couples and singles, and most new students come by themselves.

What is a private lesson like? [back to top]
The floor at the studio is a large open space, and often several private lessons are going on at the same time, on the same floor. The atmosphere is relaxed, with no pressure and no expectations, just learning to dance and having fun at the same time! Josh will effectively teach you at a pace comfortable to you, using verbal, visual, and hands-on techniques that will make things as simple as possible and produce great results.

I have no idea where to begin or what dances I want to do. Where do I start? [back to top]
You've already started at the best possible place--right here! Some people already know what they want to learn and what their goals are, but most people do not, and that's okay! Josh is not just a dancer--he is a dance professional, and he will help you every step of the way! From choosing shoes to setting lifelong goals and everything in between, you're in good hands!

Okay, I'm ready to get started--how does this work? [back to top]

  1. Call or email Josh to schedule a day and time convenient for you. For your first lesson, payment is required in advance to reserve your time, since Josh works on an appointment-only basis. After that, you can pay at the time of your lesson with a check or cash if that is more convenient.
  2. After you have scheduled your appointment, visit the rates and packages page and click the "Checkout" button at the top to pay with your credit card or PayPal account. This confirms and reserves your lesson time.
  3. You can visit the studio location page for the address and directions. You're all done--get ready to have a great time!

I have no rhythm and two left feet! Am I a lost cause? [back to top]
No! That is only your perception of yourself, and anyone can learn how to dance! Even many professional dancers once felt the same way, and by taking action and the initiative to learn how to dance, they were able to overcome their doubts and be successful! You are often your own toughest critic; let Josh work with you just one time, and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish with the right training!

Will people stare at me if I mess up? [back to top]
No! Other students on the floor will be dancing and having fun just like you will be!

What should I wear? [back to top]
Your clothes should be comfortable, and should allow you to move freely. Shoes should not have a rubber sole or one that grips, but should have a somewhat slick bottom. Ladies' shoes should have a back or strap to ensure they stay on.

What do I need to bring? [back to top]
Just bring yourself, and be ready to learn to dance and have a good time!
